My Case for the BNC: Community Partnerships

Why should you give to the Bryant Neighborhood Center? This series of posts explores why the people intimately connected with the Bryant Neighborhood Center and the Here for Good  Capital Campaign have invested so much of their time and talent for its future success.

Nalani Linder has volunteered as Capital Campaign Co-Chair for several years, right alongside Miyon Kautz, who we heard from a few weeks ago. Nalani is committed to fundraising for the BNC because she believes in community partnerships.

Most of my career has been working or volunteering with community partnerships.  I love a good community partnership because of all it stands for:  community (relationships, grassroots, real people) and partnership (coming together, working together in service to others).    A new community partnership is taking shape through the upcoming Bryant Neighborhood Center-- a mix of current and new-to-the-neighborhood programs all in one space to serve the neighbors, visitors and friends of the Bryant Neighborhood.  It is all that a community partnership should stand for—connecting and serving, one relationship at a time.

Starting in 2020, we’ll have both the legacy programs of Trinity Presbyterian Church (school tutoring, community meals, a clothing bank) along with additional services from Tacoma Rescue Mission and Children’s Museum of Tacoma as well as meeting space for neighbors to connect.  This new mix of services in the updated space will open up even more opportunities in the neighborhood, and offer a sweet mix of education, play, basic needs and more for those who come through the doors.  The diversity and possibility of this community partnership is what made me jump into the Here for Good Campaign.  Together, we’re raising $2.5 million to fulfill on that vision of a space that can welcome children, families and individuals collectively, in a safe and friendly space.

I hope others will be as inspired as I am to partner in their own way to support this community effort.
